Google suspected builder of enormous floating data center discovered in San Francisco Bay

An enormous floating barge has emerged in the San Francisco Bay, which tech-savvy sleuths suspect is a massive data center being constructed by Google, the CNET blog reported.

The huge floating structure “stands about four stories high and was made with a series of modern cargo containers… Locals refer to it as the secret project,” CNET wrote, adding that Google did not respond to requests for comment.

“It’s all but certain that Google is the entity that is building the massive structure that’s in plain sight, but behind tight security,” the online tech site wrote.

~snip~

“Although Google has not confirmed any projects on Treasure Island, which is owned by the US Navy and subleased by the city of San Francisco, ample evidence suggests that the company is behind whatever is going on… on the barge,” as well as inside a huge hangar on the island, CNET wrote.

that no one wants to understand or is willing to admit, former rather than latter, that collecting data was implicit in creating this network in the first place. Okay a server can store billions of bytes of information to transmit to personal and business concerns looking for information. Now tell me how no one creating this mess/terror called internet didn't realize that if you transmit data, you could receive data. It really is pretty simple and it is one reason I've never trusted this 'marvel' called a computer for personal use with connections worldwide. Google is one in the same, a government spying tool. It's not hard to figure out. I don't really give a damn any more. These governments in concert with megacorps know and have all the data needed for COMPLETE control all populaces, mind and body, no matter where.

Google also has massive servers adjacent to the salmon fish ladders on the Columbia River for the same cooling benefit. Makes sense to me

This was one of the answers from the above article. I personally do not know anything about it.

I wouldn't locate it on corrosive salt water. The salt air corrodes electronics and would require one hell of a mitigation process to eliminate.
