because when you're down to your last 20 billion, you start to feel the pinch of poverty and hear the wolf howling at the door.

The only thing that will encourage fuller employment with people working full time instead of part time is higher wages.

The PTB have the perfect excuse not to do that now.

far too many people on the sidelines not looking for jobs. these people will come back in to the job market keeping wages from going up much.

only when there are no longer many on the sidelines will wage pressures really be strong.

i think the unemployment rate will almost certainly go back up a bit, as more people are trying to re-enter the job market combined with a global economic slowdown.

that said, i think this is a temporary thing, i don't think we're headed for a full-blown recession. just more anemic growth.
