? President reverses course after saying hed replace quitters
? I am ending both. Thank you all! Trump says on Twitter
Donald Trump said hes disbanding two advisory groups of American business leaders, after CEOs quit this week as the president faced blowback for failing to sufficiently condemn white supremacists.
Trump made the announcement on Twitter, less than an hour after one of the groups was said to be planning to inform the White House that it would disband.
Rather than putting pressure on the business people of the Manufacturing Council & Strategy & Policy Forum, I am ending both. Thank you all! Trump said on Twitter.
His remarks were a reversal of what he said a day before, when he tweeted that he had plenty of CEOs who wanted to be on the panels to replace those who quit, and called the CEOs who left grandstanders.

Two of President Donald Trumps councils of top business leaders are disbanding following Tuesdays controversial remarks by the president about the weekends violence in Virginia. ... Mr. Trump tweeted Wednesday that he was ending the White House council on manufacturing and the Strategic and Policy Forum.
One of the councils had planned to disband after a conference call of its executives on Wednesday morning, a person familiar with the matter said. Mr. Trumps tweet came after reports that council was disbanding.
Blackstone Group LP Chief Executive Stephen A. Schwarzman, who led the Strategic and Policy Forum, phoned the president on Wednesday to inform him the group was being disbanded, according to people familiar with the call.

By disbanding the biz advisory groups, Mr. Trump was sparing himself the humiliation of an executive exodus

(14 posts)Big business CEOs bailing out on a Republican President who happens to be a Manhattan billionaire? What more is needed to wake America up to the reality that this guy is not qualified? What is wrong with our checks and balances? After all, we aren't talking about criminal conviction beyond a reasonable doubt or even civil conviction on the preponderance of the evidence, we are talking about our military Commander-in-Chief, the CEO of the executive branch and the Head of State who represents our country before the world. The standard for job performance as POTUS is higher than just "not guilty" or "not proven." The lives, the fortunes, and the sacred honor of over 300 million Americans are at grave risk with Trump as our head of state, head of our military, and administrative head of our government. What are the congressional politicians stalling about? They are playing cheap politics with the lives of all of us!
