Related: About this forumDoes this 2017 list of best and worst banks have any validity ?
https://www.forbes.com/pictures/mli45fhfdk/americas-best-and-worst/#74ab91ee6befSorry, it's a slideshow, grrr.
They say the #1 bank is PacWest Bancorp and the worst (#100) is Associated Banc-Corp.
I can't find the date of the article yet, but it's not super-recent.

(4,533 posts)Unless you foolishly have more than the insured amounts in one bank. If you own shares of banks the market already reflects risk in the market price. The Forbes list referred to financial health. If you want to avoid being cheated avoid Wells Fargo, search for most ethical banks. US Bank tells me they have been voted most ethical for 5 years. I dont know if that is true.

(37,457 posts)It might be useless to look at a public list. The FDIC, I would hope, would know which banks are at risk.
I probably need to look more at the likes of companies like Bear Stearns, AIG and Lehmann Brothers.

(4,533 posts)I will try to find it again for you. I had a client who inherited millions and had too much in two local banks. One was ranked near the bottom so I got him to diversify. I will try to recreate how I got the list and will get back to you.
