Fire union sues over back wages

The city’s firefighter union has filed a lawsuit against the city that seeks to force payment of back wages.
The lawsuit, filed in Douglas County District Court, asks a judge to require the city to pay the union back wages and interest due for 2009 as was ordered in an earlier ruling by the state’s Commission for Industrial Relations.
Further, the union wants a judge to require the city calculate and pay back wages for 2010 and 2011.
