No Labor Law on Labor Day?

From email.

Take action here: http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/o/6475/p/dia/action3/common/public/?action_KEY=11545

Imagine – Labor Day in the United States with no labor law.

That’s what we’re facing unless we take action, Steven.

The Senate must confirm Gina McCarthy to run the Environmental Protection Agency, Thomas Perez to run the Department of Labor, and all five of President Obama’s nominees to the National Labor Relations Board. If they do not, then 80 million workers will lose the protection of the law, and all of us run the risk of dirtier air and water — all thanks to Republican obstruction in the Senate.

We can’t let that happen. Write to your Senators today to insist that they confirm the President’s nominees to the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Labor and National Labor Relations Board.

Outdated Senate procedures have made it virtually impossible for the Senate to confirm President Obama's agency and judicial nominees.

But Democrats hold the majority in the Senate, and the majority can adopt rules that allow for an up or down vote on all of these nominees. That would mean no more Republican obstructionism or game playing or letting the right-wing agenda stand in the way of getting the people's business done.

We can win this. Reports indicate that Senate leadership is seriously considering passing new rules that prevent the obstruction of qualified nominees. But they will only take this bold action if we — their constituents — demand action.

Sincerely,
