Marc Veasey gets Texas AFL-CIO endorsment

State Rep. Marc Veasey got a boost Tuesday from the Texas AFL-CIO in his bid for the 33rd District seat in Congress.

Veasey received the endorsement from the Dallas County, Tarrant County and statewide chapters of the influential labor group, according to his campaign.

"I'm proud to have their endorsement and their support," Veasey said.

Veasey is a frontrunner in an 11-person race for the Democratic nomination for the District 33 seat.

The newly created district was designed to give an African-American or Hispanic the opportunity to be elected to Congress from North Texas. It includes parts of Tarrant and Dallas counties.
