An administrative professionals union - UPTE!

I am very excited about this. I used to work for UC (University of California) as an analyst and I always wished that we had a union. When I and three other women in our department of 7 people were having serious difficulties with our boss, we all called HR and they wouldn't help us. They said that they were there to support management - not us.
Raises? Hah! 1% in the four years that I was there. We only got evaluations when we asked for them. 40 hours is the minimum (closer to 50 is the norm) and our boss nitpicked if we actually did take a half an hour lunch.

Anyway, I went back to the university this month (MD appointment) and saw that there is a union, UPTE, that is trying to organize the administrative professionals. hell yeah!! I am so happy for them and hope that the workers realize how much good this union could be for them.
