How to Reduce the Deficit the Right Way

~snip~

The United States has tens of thousands of military located on dozens of bases in dozens of countries. In many of those countries there are multiple bases.

I do not believe we should be in any of them, and I'm certain everyone will agree with me that we definitely do not need bases in The United Kingdom, Germany, France, or Japan.

Defense spending in the United States is five times higher than that of any other country in the world. The next highest in China.

Both Democrats and Republicans are good at things; telling lies and wasting money. I have one question for the Republicans: why do you claim the most important part of your agenda is to reduce spending and the deficit? That is a falsehood because you defend billions of dollars of waste by the Pentagon every year.

That 57% of all discretionary funding is what is driving us all to the poorhouse. Case in point: Our newest destroyer, the USS Zumwalt, cost over five billion dollars. That is more expensive than 95% of all Nimitz-class aircraft carriers.

California has a water problem? STOP BUILDING ONE ZUMWALT-CLASS DESTROYER AND BUILD TWO $3 BILLION DOLLAR DESALINIZATION PLANTS. Problem solved.
