...I was hoping to get some stuff done around the house.

And CA is a pretty long drive. Still, when would I ever get the chance to chat with Basketball Arne again?

I'm a left coaster, so there's no chance I can make that one. However, our union is hosting a symposium this Monday, complete with Linda Darling-Hammond, and I'm definitely heading to that.

Linda D-H's kids attended my kids' school, in DC!!! I'd walk 'a mile' to see her, and was dearly hoping she'd get SecEd position!

I'd actually rather see her than the others at Newseum in DC.

What happened?!

Our kids can't draw a straight line or use a tape measure or read an analog clock.

They aren't taught real world skills, we're spending all our time thinking that the words that are printed in textbooks and that come out of teachers' mouths are being heard and understand and WE ARE WRONG!

So, how was it???

FBI fears American universities 'swarming with spies'

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-04-08/american-universities-infected-by-foreign-spies-detected-by-fbi.html

So watch your classmate who came for knowledge here from Beijing or Moscow, as he is a potential spy. Well, but would someone here remind me how foreigners appears in our classes exactly?? Yes, as generally today we ourselves invite these people to come and to make here there studies under a countless number of international humanitarian programs and funds. And there is no secret as well that the same bureau along with the CIA are striving to get these people to work for them after they'll return to their homelands. But in practice here we're... our 'guests' indeed are working in our classes to steel government secrets or new technologies to take it back to their home countries – 'university' losses at that are at the rate of $4 million already...
