Introducing the Emergency Climate Movement

This is how the younger generation is viewing the situation. My sense of urgency is finally being matched, and I'm most grateful. I'm skeptical because of those who don't hold the same sense of reality. But still, this is as good as we can hope for. Get everyone motivated to change now.

Here's her opener:

Introducing the Emergency Climate Movement

We are living in a state of planetary emergency. To have a chance of averting the collapse of civilization and the destruction of the natural world, we must mobilize our society on the scale of World War II to achieve net zero[1] greenhouse gas emissions at wartime speed. The fact that we have already heated the world to such dangerous levels, and show little sign of stopping, is evidence of widespread institutional failure. We cannot expect anyone else to save us. We must organize to save ourselves.

I like this footnote:

[1] When I say “Net zero emissions,” I mean that, it may not be possible to eliminate all US greenhouse gas emissions in the short timeline that The Climate Mobilization calls for. If so, the emissions that remain will be balanced out through carbon-negative techniques such as reforestation, permaculture, and biochar. This vision of “net zero emissions” does not include corporate land grabs or schemes in which the US discounts its own emissions through foreign carbon sequestration. Further, it is a stepping stone to the United States becoming net carbon negative, and also eliminating all remaining GHG emissions. For more information, see the Pledge to Mobilize or the Case for Mobilization.

If you doubt me, look up Ulf Bossel. A world leader on the subject of fuel cells. The basic concept he uses states that it's better to push electrons than molecules.

But that's not what this thread was about.

Probably from the frequent posters who respond to most issues in E/E with
variations on "We NEED a hydrogen based economy" (we don't) and
"Hydrogen is CLEAN energy" (it isn't) and "Look at the latest puff piece on H2
from our Republican politicians and their corporate allies".

The hydrogen industry is basically the fossil-fuel industry trying to hide behind
smoke-screens, PR budgets and gullible enthusiasts.

We need global negative population growth. But that's a sacred cow is it not?

Within 30 years. Sounds doable, eh?

Well, as the Bard of Avon said, "A man's reach must exceed his grasp, or what's a heaven for?"

I hope they try. And I hope they're not too disappointed by the outcome.
