You'd think that Harry Reid wouldn't be in the news anymore now that he's retired,...

but quietly he still is and his legacy lives on. You see, Harry Reid was one of the driving forces behind forcing NV Energy into building renewables into their energy grid. And here are some of the latest headlines regarding what has transpired since his 2016 retirement:

Big Solar Energy Projects Are Quietly Happening Under Trump 12/20/17

The US government recently fired up two conjoined solar power plants on federal land. A “Throw the Switch” event was held on Dec. 17, although the Bureau of Land Management sent out no press release. Present were Senator Harry Reid (D-NV), U.S Bureau of Land Management Nevada Director John Ruhs, NV Energy officials (the state’s energy company), state and local officials, and representatives from J.P. Morgan, EDF Energy, Switch, and First Solar.

NV Energy to Serve Nevada Customers With More Low-Cost Renewable Energy 1/9/18

And, last but not least. NV Energy is embracing Electric Vehicle ownership with Time of Use (ToU) electrical rates, exclusive to EV owners. The program is similar to a program for residential customers who choose the ToU option, but the EV ToU program establishes special EV charging hours as an incentive, if the owners take advantage of charging between 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM. It doesn't sound like much, because the rates are only a penny cheaper than the standard Residential ToU rate...until you do the math. That one penny represents 20% less than the standard ToU rate for other Residential ToU customers, so no small potatoes.

NV Energy offers a special Electric Vehicle Time of Use Rate for its northern and southern Nevada EV customers.

So thank you Harry Reid for your skillful leadership in leading Nevada towards a brighter greener future!
