Snow in Washington DC..3/21/18...predicted 10 inches of snow???

Just a note for fans of snow. Today the temperature is about 30 degrees. Tomorrow the temperature in Washington DC is supposed to be 45 degrees and sunny. Mid 40s for the next few days, and sunny. So, even if there is lots of snow, all of it will be melted in a few days.

People in DC are pretty strong. They have put up with some tough problems in the past year. They can live through some snow and the melting of the snow. Don't you think?

Very wet snow with huge snowflakes. And most all of it melted by yesterday.

I was working at a school where I had to take the expressway home. (I was a high school teacher) What a mess. I think it was a Friday.
By the time we went back on Monday, the sun had melted it. Yes there was some on the grass, but the streets and walks were clean because the sun was already strong, although the temps were in the upper 40s a few days after the storm had passed.

Guess what...I forgot that this is the "internet" Yes, sometimes I forget that I am not just in a room with fellow democrats, but it is an amazing instant library..with connections everywhere.....so....I googled .."Early April Snow in Chicago......and here it is....."The city's last big April snowstorm was in 1982, when 9.4 inches fell April 5."

(in the old days..I would have had to go to the library, or looked in some weather book on Chicago if I had one...If I had kept a diary of the snow, I don't, I could have found the date, if I could remember where I put the diary)

NOW....I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO GET UP ....OUT OF MY CHAIR..TO GET THAT INFORMATION........!!!!! When I was a kid, I recall the old timers talk about how hard things were..in the old days.
.Think about that ..."instant research" I could talk to some kid, and tell him about going to the library and looking up the reader's guide and searching around for old temperatures and weather events in Chicago..He wouldn't have a clue.. The kid might say.."Why didn't you google it?".........Oh my guess what I have become?..no don't tell me, I know....

The predicted date of peak cherry blossoms got pushed back by the cold weather, not predicted to be around the end of March.

Hopefully, the weather hasn't taked out too many of the blossoms.
