BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) The Trump administration on Tuesday rolled back an Obama-era rule that forced energy companies to capture methane a key contributor to climate change thats released in huge amounts during drilling on U.S. and tribal lands.
A replacement rule from the Interior Department rescinds mandates for companies to reduce gas pollution, which Trump administration officials say already is required by some states.
Within hours of the announcement, attorneys general for California and New Mexico filed a lawsuit in federal court seeking to reinstate the 2016 rule.
Weve sued the administration before over the illegal delay and suspension of this rule and will continue doing everything in our power to hold them accountable to our people and planet, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra said.

(279 posts)One thing I notice with trump over the last two years (god, it feels like a century!!)...
If it has Obama's name on any administrative act or mandate trump wants it gone...
This is how petty trumps racism and hatred of Obama rolls...

(42,770 posts)It would take a lot of deeper research...some very technical. Would be a great job for Obama! To find the worst ones and boil them down. Think this would be a great campaign issue for us. "This water your kids swim in had poison in it...then we made it so the paper Mills couldn't dump chemicals in it. Then trump got rid of the rules."
