Related: About this forumCalifornia Wolf Pack, 3 new Pups
Californias only known wolf pack has at least three new pups, according to a report by the state Department of Fish and Wildlife. Trail cameras in Lassen County recorded the pups, as well as two or three adult wolves, in June.
The first sighting of a wolf in California was in 2011, a wolf from Oregon. Then a pack of wolves named the Shasta pack was in California in 2015, but they mysteriously disappeared. Now there is one pack, the Lassen pack living in California since 2016.

(3,335 posts)They still need to have full protection, as an endangered species.

(4,316 posts)And I think California is probably the most pro wildlife state there is, except they have very compromised ability to have wildlife because they are so developed.
Here you can see a youtube on a fish and wildlife meeting on wolves in California in April 2014, where so many people turned out to support the wolves living in California.

(86,840 posts)involved in the RMTS DPS intro and retention... I also keep an eye on the other states and wolf news, one of my main topics in my post collegiate life... I don't always get to see the videos.
That's a three hour vid and before I set up a time to watch that, I'll wager that I am professionally acquainted with at least a few of the folks on the video.

(4,316 posts)It's the Rocky Mountain Tri-State Distinct Population Segment or the wolves that were reintroduced to Yellowstone NP and the Frank Church Wilderness RNR twenty something years ago. Might be officially referred to as Northern Rockies, been so long since I've used the term that I guess I've forgotten it at the moment. Haven't finished my caffeine fix yet.

(5,727 posts)I would be curious to know if they have been staying solely in Lassen county or if they range into Nevada or into the surrounding California counties.

(4,316 posts)The wolves generally utilize a broad area of western Lassen and northernmost Plumas counties.
