I've always thought that would be a great way to travel, given the time. Certainly better than being trapped in a crowded, bad air-quality, and uncomfortable plane with other stressed and unhappy people.

I blame oil and auto industry lobbyists for all but decimating passenger travel by train and buying off legislators. The GOP, in particular, has been anti-rail for decades and trying to kill Amtrak, in particular. I used to commute by train and it was great. It was an opportunity to relax, read, work, meditate, or whatever--instead of dealing with traffic. But that doesn't line the right pockets, apparently.
