how deep would we have to dig to get away from it?

Is there a pilot program under consideration?

During the 1300's the population of England fell by 50%. Are there contingency plans to deal with mass die-offs?

How do I explain our complacency in the face of epic catastrophe to my grand-daughter, who will have to live with the consequences of our fecklessness?

Every time I get one of those fundraising surveys from the Democratic Party where they ask you to rank issues I find myself writing in the environment as #1. Usually it's not on the list at all except in some bastardized form like "Energy security" that can just as easily mean "drill baby drill" as developing an appropriate energy policy.
