Study confirms sea-level rise is accelerating along northeast U.S. coast

(Phys.org)—A new study by emeritus professor John Boon of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science shows that the rate of sea-level rise is increasing at tidal stations along the Atlantic coast of North America, including those in Norfolk, Baltimore, New York, and Boston.

The rate at which sea level is rising increased abruptly beginning in 1987 at all 8 stations along the northeastern U.S. coast: SWPT = Norfolk; BALT = Baltimore; ATLC = Atlantic City; SDHK = Sandy Hook, NJ; NYTB = New York; BOST = Boston; PORT = Portland, ME; HFAX = Halifax, Nova Scotia. I'm a lifetime North Carolinian and I'm still horrified. Wait 'til we no longer have a Dem governor to veto the new lunatic GOP-led general assembly. Can't wait to see what they illegalize next.

Sadly, I don't like to admit this but there may not be much we can do to reverse sea level rise. We could, of course, try to get a process started, and see if Nature gets the rest of the job done, but I'm not sure about that......so, I think it's best to focus on Co2 sequestration and planting more trees, especially bamboo and mangroves, etc., amongst other things we can do(such as implementing more efficient energy sources!).
