Telegraph - UK On Track For Warmest Year On Record, Per Met Office

Man-made climate change is probably responsible for Britain experiencing the warmest year since records began, the Met Office has said. Temperatures across the UK in 2014 were on average 1.6C warmer each day than previous years.

And in Central England, where records date back to the 17th century, the region has not experienced a warmer year since 1659, the year before the restoration of the monarchy, when Richard Cromwell was Lord Protector.

Forecasters said that human influence was likely to be to blame, the first time that the Met Office has attributed warmer temperatures to man-made climate change.

The findings are based on a new computer programme which models what the weather would be without greenhouse gases and compares it with conditions today.
