The U.S. Could Get a Third of Its Electricity From Wind Power—and Save Billions of Gallons of Water

http://www.freeelectricpower.net/the-u-s-could-get-a-third-of-its-electricity-from-wind-power-and-save/

Could the United States get as much as 35 percent of its electricity from wind power within 35 years?

Absolutely, says the U.S. Department of Energy in a new report that details the benefits of replacing fossil fuel power plants with millions of wind turbines generating carbon-free electricity.

Like perhaps longer showers in drought-stricken regions.

Fossil fuel power plants consume huge amounts of water for cooling. If wind supplied a third of the nation’s electricity by 2050, it would save an estimated 260 billion gallons of water a year. That’s just what California currently uses in about a week, but the savings could have significant local impacts where water shortages are severe.

California leads on solar, but we have not scratched the surface on the exploitation of it.

I heard on KPFK on Ian Masters' show that we are coming closer to having batteries that will make solar energy even more economical and feasible than it now is.

On a trip to Iowa about 4 years ago, I was sitting in a restaurant in an area that has hundreds of wind turbines and overheard a woman proclaim rather loudly that there wasn't any wind until they put up those windmills.

I almost fell off my chair hardly believing what she was saying. Then there are the pro-wildlife claims against wind power.

Let's just get this done and put those things up everywhere. Big, small and everything in between.

Remember these?

So that is how it works? I guess I need a couple in my yard so I can get a nice breeze while mowing the lawn

on edit: Have you ever been confronted with such stupidity that all you can do is blink your eyes quickly, hoping to erase the stupid you just heard from your brain?
