Related: About this forumWouldn't we all love to tell Monsanto's CEO exactly what we think of him? Mark Ruffalo did.
Monsanto chief is horrible And I got to tell him that to his face after his interview on CBS This Morning.
Approaching someone like this isnt really my thing. But being so well behaved all the time doesnt seem to be helping people. It made me really uncomfortable to do it. But thats how we change. We must become uncomfortable. We must act out of our comfort zones for things to change. We must call out the people who are doing horrible things when they do them.
Hugh Grant (Monsanto CEO not the actor) must be made to feel uncomfortable for what he allows his company to do in the world. That is why I told him what I did and why I am sharing it with you.
...snip...He came through the Green Room door ready to do high fives with his press agent and I simply told him this:
You are wrong. You are engaged in monopolizing food. You are poisoning people. You are killing small farms. You are killing bees. What you are doing is dead wrong.
A bead of sweat broke out on his head. Well, what I think we are doing is good, Grant replied.
I am sure you do, I told him.
When people get paid the kind of money he gets paid their thinking becomes incredibly clouded and the first thing to go is their morality.
He says Monsanto needs to do a better job with their messaging.
Hugh, its not your messaging that makes you and your company horrible. Its the horrible stuff you guys do that makes you and your company horrible.
People dont walk around making horrible stories up about good companies because they got nothing else better to do with their time....

(7,830 posts)It apparently documents how Obama's "all of the above energy policy" including oil drilling is as bad for the planet as denying Climate Change.

(12,157 posts)The pharmaceuticals continually manipulated drug formulas to keep profits high and maintain monopoly without regard to the health of the end users. In fact decreased health means increased profits. Monsanto does the same with our food stuffs taking control out of the hands of farmers and consumers giving Monsanto and other ag businesses an unnatural monopoly and obscene high profits.
Enter stage left the black horse and rider:
KJV Rev 6:5-65 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

Hooray for Mark Ruffalo and thank you.

(7,830 posts)Now if we could just get everyone in Hollywood to be just as brave as he is (along with Leo DiCaprio & John Cusack)...maybe corporate media would have to start paying attention to the truly important things which affect our lives & livelihood.

(34,111 posts)who use their visibility (even the other side, you can't just go one way with this) to discuss important issues. I may disagree but I also disagree that they should shut up just because they are celebrities. They are also citizens but they have a mic so go for it!
I love the comment below that he is an old soul. Perfect description.
