Amtrak seems unfazed by the nasty weather headed for the southeastern US.

Train number 53, the southbound Auto Train, left Lorton 33 minutes early. It passed Ashland at 6:22.

It is just starting to rain in Ashland. There’s a big rainbow in the sky off to the northeast.

The sun’s out everywhere but here, “here” being the region from Richmond to DC.

Ashland is cloudy and damp. Howell Wye in Atlanta? The sun’s out. Bangor, Maine? Sunny. Fostoria, Ohio? There’s a pair of railfans camped in front of the west-facing camera taking advantage of the beautiful day. Selma NC? The sun’s out there too.

There are trains galore, both Amtrak and CSX, coming through Ashland in both directions.
