WikiLeaks says NSA spied on top German politicians 'for decades'
08.07.2015
The WikiLeaks report, released on Wednesday, suggests NSA spying on German officials went on far longer and more widely than previously thought. The website published a new list of German phone numbers it claims showed the NSA targeted the officials for surveillance.
The list of 56 partially redacted phone numbers includes those belonging to staff of the former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder as well as his predecessor, Helmut Kohl. Also on the list were numbers attributed to former diplomat Geza Andreas von Geyr, who now works for the Ministry of Defense, and Ronald Pofalla, who was the former head of Angela Merkel's chancellery between 2009 and 2013.
WikiLeaks also gave a cell phone number it claimed was used by the German leader up until 2013.
The website published what it said were three intercepts by the US National Security Agency (NSA) of conversations involving Merkel. These included discussions such as "Chancellor Merkel's plans on how to respond to the international financial crisis and the eurozone bank bailout." An intercept from 2009 details Merkel's criticism that the US Federal Reserve was "taking risks" concerning the previous year's global financial crisis.

(45,251 posts)The most telling thing was Merkel's feint after it came out that the NSA was collecting info about calls made by the German population. it was kind, I'm shocked, shocked I tell you, to learn that the USA has been listening in on my personal phone. Clearly, this was to mislead the German people into thinking she was as clueless as they were about all this. However, notice: She said not a word about her official phone or the official or private phones of anyone else in German government. Now, that's what is known as a tell. A huge one.

(1,388 posts)TELL. A way to read people who are trying to trick you or mislead you. I learned it playing poker. There are many tells out there. Some subtle (the way they are suppose to be) and some not so subtle (which is a very tricky tell). Merkel being upset with the Greek vote could be construed as a tell. HRC coming down on the Greek people could be one of those sneaky tells, (I don't think so). Or it would be the biggest tell since William. My tell is that I will run for president if HRC gets the nod. No experience, a degree in nursing. No speaking experience. Entertainment experience is with the neighbors. So am I worse than the others on the crazy bus. Timothy J Smith, Channahon, Illinois. OH, and I used to inhale.

If Hillary gets the nod, I'll donate to your campaign. Meanwhile, me and at least some nurses are supporting Bernie.
for your being "very sick". If not a tell, then if I can help in any way, I am here. Docs always think nurses are sic (sic).
Bernie is the first political person I have ever donated to and plan to do more.
Anyhow, you are the best. And do not forget that.
