Aircraft Cannibalism: Russian Civil Aviation Is in Crisis - UATV English

The aircraft fleet of the passenger-transport aviation in the federation has suffered from sanctions. Practically no spare parts and service for Western-made planes are available. The authorities strive to circumvent sanctions, mostly in dual-use goods.

My first Aeroflot flight was the worst ever (Helsinki to Moscow), broken seats, scary flight attendants (unlike Finnair who were the kindest ever), that awful orange drink - and I'm not an enthusiastic flier under the best of circumstances (but I was with my grandmother). However, my second flight could not have been nicer (Sochi to then-Leningrad), comfortable interior, oxygen pumped in and professional and friendly flight attendants. I have to say that it was a huge relief, but I'm relieved that I'm unlikely to ever do that again...
