Germany, U.K., Finland, Italy, Australia suspend UNRWA funding

Several Western nations followed the United States in suspending funds for the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) on Saturday after allegations that some of its staff members were involved in the Oct. 7 attacks.

“Until the end of the investigation, Germany, in coordination with other donor countries, will temporarily not approve any new funds for UNRWA in Gaza,” the German Foreign Ministry said late Saturday, adding that “UNRWA’s role is vital.”

“It is absolutely true that UNRWA acted immediately in light of the allegations against employees of the organization,” the German Foreign Ministry added.

Britain’s Foreign Ministry also said it was “temporarily pausing any future funding of UNRWA whilst we review these concerning allegations.”

Without western countries nothing much would ever be enforced or accomplished.
