Wrongly detained?

Our government insists Paul Whelen is innocent. I really don't think so. I don't think he was spying for our government, but I'm pretty sure he was spying, maybe as a freelancer, maybe for another country, whatever. If you delve into his history, he has a sketchy past, to say the least. Russia might trade him in a spy-for-spy deal, but they like to do that quietly, and Whelen has been very noisy about his predicament.
