United Nations speech, a winning action for Obama ?

The colony of West Papua is a victim of corporate manipulation in Washington. In 1960 a Freeport director got his friend fellow bonesman McGeorge Bundy into the White house where he had the NSC tell Kennedy that it was vital for America to buy the friendship of Indonesia by sacrificing the Dutch colony in Papua to Indonesian rule.

John & Robert Kennedy submitted to the 'expert' advice given to them, but they took a precaution - they ensured the United Nations accepted responsibility for the colony {1} before allowing the Indonesian forces into the territory. The UN Charter was written to avoid problems experience by the League of Nations, UN members can not withdraw their membership as a bargaining tool, and any colony that becomes a "trust territory" remains a UN responsibility irrespective of who the administrator is.

{1} United Nations General Assembly resolution 1752 (XVII) - which endorsed the agreement drafted by Robert Kennedy for the Dutch to surrender their administration to the UN and then for the UN to allow Indonesian administration until an "act of self-determination" as defined in the agreement, which has not yet happened.

The problem is that the Kennedy brothers were killed before they could remind the UN General Assembly when needed in 1969 that United Nations General Assembly resolution 1752 (XVII) was approval of a trusteeship agreement. This could not be done until Indonesia proved in 1969 that it was unwilling to allow the self-determination as defined in the agreement signed in 1962.

The solution is for Obama to remind the UN General Assembly in two weeks that United Nations General Assembly resolution 1752 (XVII) appears to be approval of a trusteeship agreement.

Even better - the US does not need to listen to Indonesian whining because the Trusteeship Council can use UN General Assembly resolution 171 (II) to ask the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to give its opinion on the matter. There is no political issue for Indonesia to complain about, it has already signed the trusteeship agreement and it is a fact that the colony is entitled to vote as defined in the agreement. Any argument Indonesia has would have to be presented to the ICJ and not the General Assembly or members who can not tell the court what judgement to give.

American would regain world respect as a honest nation, Obama would show that he can promote world prosperity without it costing Americans money and without need of protracted international debate. Surely that is the kind of President who would motivate voters and win the heart of more undecided voters than the Republicans.
