Israeli Palestinians call for strike to protest demolitions policy

Thursday, April 16, 2015

The Arab Higher Monitoring Committee has announced a general strike in Israel for Tuesday 28 April in protest against the demolition crimes committed by the Israel government, which have recently escalated and increased.

Yesterday, the committee held an emergency meeting to discuss the consequences of the campaign launched by the Israeli administration to demolish Palestinian homes in Arab cities and villages within Israel.

In its meeting, the committee decided to establish a fund to collect donations for the reconstruction of Palestinian homes demolished by the occupation under the pretext of having "no permit". They will also visit Arab schools and raise awareness on the home demolitions policy and the displacement of its inhabitants, as well as respond to every demolition with immediate reconstruction.

Yesterday morning, the Israeli interior ministry bulldozers, accompanied by a large number of Israeli police forces, demolished five homes in the village of Dahmash, which still remains unrecognised, and which is located near the city of Al-Lydd. The homes were demolished under the pretext of "construction without a permit".
