Tourism to Israel declines by 10 percent

https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/news/middle-east/19256-tourism-to-israel-declines-by-10-percent

Israel's Central Statistics Bureau said in a statement that an estimated 7,500 tourists came from Jordan, 5,200 from Egypt and 1,500 from Morocco. This is out of an estimated total of 1.259m tourists, including 756.5m from Europe.

The largest number of tourists who visited Israel came from the United States, followed by Russia, then France.

Compared with the number of tourists who visited Israel in the same period of the previous year, the rate of tourism has declined by 9.7 percent.

According the report, Israeli tourism is still suffering from the repercussions of the latest Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip.

Link to pdf at Israel Ministry of Tourism website:
http://www.goisrael.com/Tourism_Eng/Tourist%20Information/Discover%20Israel/Documents/MapOfIsrael1.pdf

Their own map has erased Palestine altogether, and there's only one contiguous state between the river and the sea. In addition, the population of Israel as depicted is said to be 7.4 million. Basically, there are no Palestinians living in the West Bank or Jerusalem. While I would love to go to Israel (again), seeing this apartheid map makes me actually reluctant to go.

Note: The reason the map is from another site, is because Ministry of Tourism only has the map in PDF fomat.

This is a map of the one-state solution. If this map is true, then the Jewish state has a Jewish minority already.

We're so excited. It's far enough away to really look forward to. I've never booked a trip so far in advance but this will be a trip of a lifetime for us.

My husband is Lebanese and he's been on many digs but this will be my first dig. He's worked in Jordan, Egypt, Cyprus and Israel. He's also very familiar with the West Bank.

I'll post photos to my journal once we return. It's quite a bit away but after high school, the years really pass by fast. LOL
