Jerusalem Attack: Teens With Scissors Wound 2 Ahead of Kerry Visit to Region

One Israeli was killed and three others injured in two separate stabbing attacks on Monday, according to officials.

The violence came ahead of Secretary of State John Kerry's visit to the region this week amid a months-long spiral of bloodshed.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said two females armed with scissors were behind the first attack of the day, in central Jerusalem. Both were shot at the scene; one was killed.

The Israeli Defense Forces said on Twitter that an 80-year-old and a 27-year-old were injured and evacuated for emergency treatment following the attack in central Jerusalem.

However, police later told NBC News that the elderly casualty was actually a Palestinian male aged around 70 who is from the West Bank.
