Poll: 2/3 of Palestinians back stabbing attacks, armed uprising

Less than half of respondents in West Bank, Gaza survey support a two-state solution; 65% want Abbas to resign

http://www.timesofisrael.com/poll-23-of-palestinians-back-stabbing-attacks-armed-uprising/

Two-thirds of Palestinians support the current wave of stabbings against Israelis, with the same percentage backing a larger armed uprising, according to a Palestinian poll released Monday.

Sixty-seven percent back the use of knives, while 66% of those asked said an armed intifada or uprising would “serve Palestinian national interests in ways that negotiations could not,” according the survey by the respected Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR).

At the same time, nearly three-quarters said they opposed the involvement of “young schoolgirls” in stabbings.

Asked whether they backed continued attacks on soldiers, 79% said yes and 10% no.

for very long. If individual Israelis begin to respond to the stabbings in kind, there will not be very many Palestinians left. I hope this will all calm down before it reaches that point.

There are other people treated far worse - Tibetans, Kurds, Yazidi, Sudanese - and yet they don't do the terror thing against random innocents. We don't see 2/3 supporting it either.

How do you explain that?

In fact the Kurds have the overt military support of a world superpower in their fight against the people stepping on their necks. Imagine for a moment if Palestinians got the support that the Kurds get.

The Yazidi are a very tiny minority where they live, and would have been wiped out entirely if htey stood and fought. They ran. They are refugees, and like any refugee, they deserve to go home when they are able.

Which side of the (several) Sudanese civil wars do you support, and which do you think needs to lay down arms and take their massacres like good little sheep?

Mass slaughter of civilian Kurds in Syria ignites heavy clashes and mass exodus

The al-Qaeda linked “Jabhat al-Nusra” (al-Nusra Front) in Syria, has been held responsible for having instigated a sectarian racist war against civilian Kurds in Syria’s northern Kurdish region, the outcomes of which recently led to the massacre of hundreds of Kurdish women and children, “some of whom were raped and beheaded by jihadists”, says Syrian opposition officials, witnesses and victims.

Human rights activists in Syria’s Kurdish region have confirmed that 450 Kurdish civilians, “mostly women and children, were slaughtered indiscriminately inside their homes at the hands of jihadists of the al-Nusra Front in Tal Abyad, Tal Hassil and Tal A’ran areas of Syrian Kurdistan from July 28 – August 2, 2013.”

The long wait for Tibetan freedom

On March 17, 1959, the Dalai Lama and his government fled Tibet into exile, after a 12-day uprising against Chinese rule in Lhasa, Tibet’s capital. Last week some 150,000 Tibetans who live as exiles around the world commemorated the anniversary with rituals, ceremonies and prayers for their eventual return to their homeland. But there are no signs they will be returning home anytime soon.

A few days earlier, the Dalai Lama celebrated the Tibetan New Year with a small exile community in Minneapolis. The group is part of a growing Western-based diaspora of Tibetan exiles who are moving farther from India, where their community has been based since 1959. Some 20,000 Tibetans have relocated from South Asia to the United States and Europe since 1990. This year was the first time the Dalai Lama has spent the New Year’s festival in a Western country, and it may have been a signal designed to fluster Beijing with the prospect that he might one day move to North America, where he has formidable mobilizing power.
