Palestinian Authority rejects possibility of Turkish rule in Gaza

The Palestinian Authority on Tuesday rejected the possibility that Turkey would subjugate the Gaza Strip to its rule.

Hamas, meanwhile, has denied the report, which was first published Saturday in the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet Daily News.

The report claimed that Turkey wanted free shipping access to the Gaza Strip in order to provide aid to the Palestinians as a condition for restoring normal ties with Israel.

A government source in Ankara told the newspaper that Turkey would not back down from the demand, even at the cost of the collapse of rapprochement with Israel.
