Congressional accusations that the EU policy is akin to a boycott of Israel are not only misleading, but also unjustified, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini wrote to House and Senate lawmakers in identical letters obtained by Al-Monitor. The letters, dated Dec. 23, stress that there is no EU boycott of any product and that trade between the EU and Israel has doubled over the past two decades.
Allow me first to state in the clearest possible terms that the European Union is a friend of Israel and has never advocated or condoned a boycott of Israel, of its citizens, of its companies or of its products, Mogherini wrote.
The high representative for foreign affairs goes on to assure lawmakers that she has discussed the EUs concerns about continued Israeli settlement construction with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and remains confident that the EU and Israel will continue to have excellent relations.
Mogherinis missives are a direct response to November letters from pro-Israel lawmakers in the House and Senate that compared the labeling policy to an illegal, de facto boycott of Israel. The congressional letters were spearheaded by Republican presidential candidate and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and New York Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, and by Republican Reps. Doug Lamborn of Colorado and Randy Weber of Texas.

The European Unions recently approved guidelines requiring member states to label products made in West Bank settlements are a win for those who seek to boycott Israel, opposition leader and Zionist Union chiar Isaac Herzog told French President Francois Hollande on Friday.
Herzog reiterated his commitment to a two-state solution to Israels decade-long conflict with the Palestinians, but insisted that certain criteria must be met beforehand.
Separation and security are necessary first steps on the road to creating two states, he told the president at their Paris meeting, Channel 2 reported.
The Boycott, Divest and Sanctions movement seeks to isolate and delegitimize Israel, not just the West Bank, in the international community for its policies towards Palestinians, he indicated.

There are some Israeli politicians who would disagree with you. Personally I think the labeling makes it easier to boycott the illegal settlements, which is the goal of BDS anyway.

(14,851 posts)But the bigoted BDS movement has different goals than the reasonable ones you espouse.
And the EU has stated trade with Israel has increased massively.
This can not possibly be spun as anything but a failure for the bigoted BDS organization.....

(45,850 posts)The campaign for boycotts, divestment and sanctions (BDS) is shaped by a rights-based approach and highlights the three broad sections of the Palestinian people: the refugees, those under military occupation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and Palestinians in Israel. The call urges various forms of boycott against Israel until it meets its obligations under international law by:
Ending its occupation and colonization of all Arab lands occupied in June 1967 and dismantling the Wall;
Recognizing the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality; and Respecting, protecting and
promoting the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties as stipulated in UN Resolution 194. - See

(14,851 posts)Festival and had no problems allowing an anti Gay hateful bigoted homophobic filth of a singer to go ahead and perform at the same festival.
The BDS movement had left severed pigs heads in kosher Jewish supermarkets and harassed regular Jews outside Israel.
In Spain the BDS movement has attempted to ban Jewish festivals.
The list is endless
The BDS movement is a bigoted anti Jew movement worldwide..... Thankfully they are marginal extremists here in the USA.
Please don't suger coat these hateful Jew hating bigots .

(14,851 posts)BDS proponents often present their case to students in terms of peace and justice; however, this masks the real agenda of seeking to destroy Israel rather than simply improve the lives of Palestinians and help them achieve independence. The true aims of BDS become clearer when the views of the movements leaders are examined. As the examples below demonstrate, they oppose a two-state solution or any other resolution to the conflict that would recognize the right of the Jewish people to self-determination in their homeland.

Going back to the two-state solution, besides having passed its expiry date, it was never a moral solution to start with.We are witnessing the rapid demise of Zionism, and nothing can be done to save it, for Zionism is intent on killing itself. I, for one, support euthanasia.

Recently at a reggae festival the BDS movement attempted to ban a Jewish American from performing but had no problems with a Gay hating filth from performing at the same festival.

(6,171 posts)to be true.
I don't know of any actual attempts at BDS that target companies because they're Israeli. All instances of BDS that I know of target companies that do business in the settlements; Veolia, Sodastream, Mekorot, Barkan winery etc. The Methodist Pension Board bars investment in Israeli banks not because they're Israeli - it's because they operate in the settlements.
If your argument was even remotely valid, then products made in Israel and companies from Israel would be targeted, which they aren't.

To put any and every possible negative rumor out there that makes peace between Jews and Arabs impossible, leading to 1-state (Palestinian majority) destruction of the Jewish state.
"What if the Jews themselves were Nazis? That would be great. We would no longer have to feel sorry for them; they would have deserved what they got."
