Group of Congresspeople try to Liken Egyptian Gov. Violence with Israel Fighting Terrorists

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/03/patrick-leahy-senate-israel-egypt-state-221366

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and 10 House members have asked the Obama administration to investigate claims that the Israeli and Egyptian security forces have committed “gross violations of human rights” — allegations that if prove could affect U.S. military aid to the countries.
In a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry dated Feb. 17, the lawmakers list several examples of suspected human rights abuses, including reports of extrajudicial killings by Israeli and Egyptian military forces, as well as forced disappearances in Egypt. The letter also points to the 2013 massacre in Egypt's Rab’aa Square, which left nearly 1,000 people dead as the military cracked down on protesters, as worthy of examination.

Shame. I used to like Pat Leahy. How dare he liken or even put in the same sentence Israel's stopping terrorists and Egypt's lack of rule of law. I looked at who signed it: http://www.politico.com/f/?id=00000153-c56c-d662-a75b-cfecc6be0000

I will be donating lots of money to primary challengers of every single damn one of these people, especially Betty McCollum and Andre Carson. Luckily, nobody else from our party signed this. But the Dems really need to clean out the anti-Israel element creeping into the American left. Let it stay in the European left.

The people who signed this law stand against the mainstream of Democrats and Americans

On 5 June 2011, there were further protests on the border with Syria and, according to Syrian authorities, 23 protesters were killed and 350 wounded by live fire from Israeli forces, though Israeli sources suggested these figures were exaggerated.

Nice to see DU'ers here concerned about the human rights of grossly fascist rightwing Jew hating Hamas & Islamic Jihadi fanatics.

Oh, the humanity!

6. So the demonstrators were on the other side of the fence, but it was OK to have a turkey shoot

anyway?

If the IDF hadn't started shooting, isn't it possible that the protesters would just have left after they were finished rioting on the other side of the fence?

to see if it grossly violates human rights, because that would violate a bill Leahy sponsored.

And I would suggest to you that attempting the attack Sen. Leahy is a bad idea.
