French town fetes Palestinian planner of Israeli minister's assassination

The Bezons municipality grants honorary citizenship to Palestinian Majdi Rimawi, who is imprisoned in Israel for planning the assassination of an Israeli minister; says Rimawi's 'only crime is defending his city and homeland.'

Majdi Rimawi, a Palestinian planner of the assassination of Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze'evi in 2001, has been granted honorary citizenship of the French town of Bezons near Paris.

According to the municipality, 200 people gathered at a council meeting on February 13 to show “solidarity with the Palestinian people, who have been without a state for 65 years and whose lands have been occupied by Israel.” A few days earlier, the municipality held a meeting on Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
