GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Dozens of Palestinian youth demonstrated in Gaza City Saturday in protest of Israel's so-called Prawer Plan to displace Bedouin residents of Negev.
Demonstrators raised posters rejecting the Prawer Plan and other Israeli practices against the Palestinian people.
The rally was organized by Gaza Strip's Intifada Youth Coalition in conjunction with an international "day of rage" against the Prawer Plan.
"We are sending a message to our people in the Negev, asserting that they are a part and parcel of us, despite the occupation's plans to displace them and exile them from Palestine," coalition spokeswoman Shurouq Mahmoud said in a statement.

RAHAT (Ma'an) -- Protests slated for Saturday in dozens of cities worldwide are likely to be the largest-yet demonstrations against Israel's so-called Prawer Plan to uproot Bedouin villages.
A joint Israeli-Palestinian activist organization on Thursday announced the 24 locations where demonstrations were scheduled to take place.
In the announcement, the Alternative Information Center called on all who "oppose ethnic cleansing, displacement and confinement in the 21st century" to attend the protests.
Israel's Prawer Plan, if implemented, would result in the systematic destruction of more than 35 villages in the Negev and the "expulsion and urbanization" of more than 70,000 Bedouin Palestinians with Israeli citizenship, the AIC said.
"The Prawer Plan is the largest Israeli land-grab since 1948," the group said.

Seems to be a bigger response to this among Britons than among Palestinians (especially those in Gaza) for some reason.
In Gaza the protest only drew "dozens" according to the OP.

(58,724 posts)Where does stuff like this come from? Seriously?
No language games going on here and no taunting of any victims. I honestly do not even understand where you might have pulled a claim like that from.
To respond seriously, the people of Gaza do have a lot on their plate. But, as you point out, they are over a million and a half people living there under awful conditions with a very high unemployment rate and large youth population. It seems like a protest of this nature would generate numbers beyond dozens.
If you want to have a reasoned discussion as to why this might be the case, I'd be happy to do so.
Personally, I think it has something to do with the complex relationship between Palestinian citizens of Israel and their counterparts in Gaza and the West Bank.
