Related: About this forumWarning to Obama: The Jewish Community will remember in November
Following with breathtaking speed on the heels of President Obama's partial rejection of the Israeli agenda this week, neoconservatives and Republicans posted dramatic ads yesterday portraying Obama as a betrayer of Israel, who goes back on his word to the Jewish state.

(43,890 posts)Last I heard we were talking about the President of the United States...
The day that the President of the United States puts the interests of Israel above the interest of the United States is the day I vote for another President.

(53,967 posts)They are a small, nasty group and no where represenatitve of Jews as a whole, most of whom are democrats. It is yet another hit-piece by a disgusting POS who thinks he is relevant because of his hate of Israel.

(43,890 posts)And I fervently hope for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in the Middle East.
But I am an American first, and these kinds of divisive statements, like the OP's, do not help our country's cause, and they do not help Israel.

(43,890 posts)I thank you. Your words helped clarify the point that, in the heat of first reaction, may not have been clear.

(24,396 posts)The truth is that no presidential candidate really has to worry about the Jewish vote. First, because their numbers are small, and second because they aren't single-issue voters who vote as a block.
Presidential candidates would be a lot worse off pissing off the atheists, who now account for 10-15% of the US population.

(6,068 posts)Jewish donors account for one-third to two-thirds of donations made to the Democratic Party, and up to a third of donations to the Republican party. Most of those donations have nothing to do with Israel per se, but the Republicans hope that Israel features prominently enough in the minds of such donors that they might consider not donating or redirecting more money to the Republicans instead.

(44,173 posts)Obama and Netanyahu are on the same page on Iran, it's just the pissant media and agenda-driven groups like the above that are trying to create a fake rift that does not exist.

(38,958 posts)Similar in nature to the whole GOP Primary season. This is very much about ratings, advertising sales & trying to remain relevant in times when they are fading. One must always remember that the media itself has an agenda in the election cycle and that is maintaining a "horse race" to maintain viewership.

(6,068 posts)I don't think they are. Netanyahu wants to US to attack Iran, and Obama does not.
