Palestinian Refugees Welcome The Pope: The story behind the iconic photo at the Separation Wall

In an effort to resist the Bethlehem Municipality’s efforts to beautify a section of the Apartheid Wall where Pope Francis was scheduled to pass, Local activists from Aida Refugee Camp gathered to paint slogans both against Israeli occupation and welcoming His Holiness, on the eve of his arrival, on May 24th 2014.

“Why do we have to make it beautiful? It’s not,” said 23-year-old Mohammed Abu Srour, one of activists involved.

I don't think he is either. We'll see what he does to help all the scores of sexually abused Jefferson23 May 2014 #2

He does share a lot of the same homophobic attitudes ( even if he has softened them a teeny little bit) as the countries of the Middle East and especially Gaza Palestine ( one of the worst offenders) -- exception Israel .

children, he has been silent on the issue of abuses to gays in other countries too.

With that said, he means a great deal to the people of Palestine, and they hope
he will support them, thus my post.

Israel has a stain they can repair if they decide to do the right thing, but it
will not come from within..47 years of occupation is nothing to brag about.
