Rabat- American celebrity Joan River is life support following a throat surgery she underwent on Thursday, according to Hollywood Life news website.
The same source added that Joan Rivers health condition made her dependent on machines after she stopped breathing following her surgery.
The American comedienne stirred controversy earlier this month after she made a statement in which she wished death to all Palestinians, showing her support to Israel in its military aggression against the Gaza Strip.
In a clip published on U.S. entertainment website TMZ on Tuesday, Rivers was seen apparently shouting, Youre dead, you deserve to be dead. You started it. You started it. Dont you dare make me feel sad about that.
Rivers continued: They were told to get out. They didnt get out. You dont get out, you are an idiot. At least the ones that were killed were the ones with very low IQs, she added then.
After the harsh criticism her comments elicited on social media, Joan River backtracked and blamed the media of taking her statements out of context.

(68,644 posts)I read in another thread that she was a strong supporter of LBGTQ rights, which I think is fine.
I don't have much love for her, but her comments re I/P were pretty extreme.
I wonder if she was also suffering from Reagan's Syndrome.

physical health for some time now. I never felt a well Joan Rivers believed or meant some of the things that have now overshadowed a fantastic career.
I wish her well.

(111,273 posts)I have no idea why some folks turn all sour and self absorbed when they get old.
All I'm turning so far is increasingly goofy as my kidney disease gets worse.
Still, I'm hoping she's beyond awareness and will pass easily out of life.

(41,208 posts)She has always been outspoken and to put it bluntly, nasty in many ways; but this behaviour was pretty over-the-top, and may have been a signal of mental (and physical) decline.

(58,724 posts)She didn't "wish death to Palestinians".

(50,254 posts)"If you're dead YOU DESERVE TO BE DEAD".
The difference there is hairsplitting.
I agree that the OP is inappropriate, but what she said was horrific and unforgiveable.

(6,068 posts)and then got hit by a bus the next day, I would have no problem with anyone invoking karma on that day either.

(50,254 posts)Real karma, though, would have been for this to happen during another facelift.

(55 posts)She is dead now.
She said " Youre dead, you deserve to be dead. You started it." This is very ambiguous. She might have been speaking about those Palestinians who launched rockets at civilians. This is really just saying she is in favor of the death penalty for capital crimes. She never said civilians should be killed.
And in all events, it is rather crude to mock an old woman who just died, as deserving what she got because of what she said. Even had she said civilians should be killed, this would not merit the death penalty for her. The majority of Gazan civilians support rocket launchings that target Israeli civilians, yet no one says such speech merits the death penalty, which is reserved for actual killers.

(5,591 posts)It's disgusting to equate karma with the death of Joan Rivers. She was 81 years old and an amazingly generous and kind woman. She was a comedic genius and a true trailblazer for women. I feel so badly for Melissa but I can somehow hear Joan saying "If you feel badly for Melissa, buy my book!"

(6,068 posts)I haven't seen you since we made mad passionate love way back in '68 after a furious all-night bout of synchronized clod-hopping. Sorry about the hole in your ottoman, you'll be glad to know that I've got those phantom limb issues under control now. How's your sister Ethel coming along with her attempts to train frogs to break-dance?
