Reid compares Hamas to ISIS

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) blasted Hamas, saying it is just as “evil” as the terrorist group Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

“Both are evil, corrupt and vicious groups,” Reid said on the Senate floor Thursday. “Yet for some reason Hamas’s brutality doesn’t elicit the same horror from the international community.

“The hypocrisy is stunning.”
Reid said he would continue to condemn Hamas and fight for Israel’s right to defend itself. Hamas fighters have been launching rocket attacks against Israel. Before the August recess Congress authorized funding for Israel’s Iron Dome defense system to intercept the rockets.

1. Well, there's an actual reason for the different reaction; context

Hamas exists within the context of a subjugated people beign ground under the heel of a foreign-backed conqueror-state for eight decades.

ISIS's context is that it is the subjugating conqueror-state being funded, armed, and manned from abroad and grinding others under its heel.

2. Are you familiar with the 2003 invasion of Iraq?

If so, you may recall that a foreign conqueror-state came over and killed tens of thousands of Iraqis and then took over the country for a time, leaving in its wake a decade of continuous violence and instability.

Is that not part of the context?

3. And is IS fighting the US in an attempt to end that occupation?

No, it's not - the context there is that the US invasion caused the chaos that IS has exploited for its own expansion.

4. Well, except that Hamas calls for an Islamic Caliphate throughout that region.

Hamas is NOT a Palestinian nationalist group.

They're Imperialists with the same objective as ISIS.

Wait - you're anti-Imperialist, right?
