On 29 Sept. 2014, the Civil Administration destroyed the internal power grid of the Khirbet a-Twayel shepherding community in the Jordan Valley. Civil Administration representatives sawed down dozens of electricity poles and cut the wires.
The community is one of dozens of shepherding communities in the Jordan Valley currently under threat of expulsion. Its 113 permanent residents, including 62 children, and another 100 or so seasonal residents have lived at the site for decades. Most of their structures were built before 1967. Their power grid was demolished as part of ongoing efforts to expel dozens of Palestinian shepherding communities from Area C and take over their land.
Local shepherd Murad Bani Fadel described what happened that day:
I live with my family in Khirbet a-Twayel, in a two-room house that has been there since the Jordanian rule [pre-1967]. We have five children: the eldest is 14 and the youngest is three months old. I make a living from raising livestock and farming.
On Monday, 29 September 2014, at around 6:00 AM, I was at home. Suddenly, I heard a lot of vehicles driving up. I went outside and saw three big bulldozers, a white Civil Administration car, and a lot of army jeeps. I was nervous, because whenever so many bulldozers and army vehicles arrive, they always leave ruins behind.

(25,699 posts)C'mon my many Zionist friends, let's see you dance around about this "BDS Fail." 'Cause... this is what you're celebrating when you do that, guys. Destruction, oppression, exploitation, and abuse. This is what you all signed up for, let's make with the applause and giggles.

(25,699 posts)Every time there is some 'failure" of BDS - someone has a concert in tel Aviv, or an arms company signs a deal with israel or the like, you among others come out with big happy faces and talk about "BDS fail" and how stupid the movement is.
Well, this article? This is what that stance actually means. This is the result of "BDS failure." The goal of BDS is to use economic and societal pressure on Israel to end the occupation of Palestine and brother... this is what that occupation looks like. The abuses Israel is heaping onto the Jordan Valley communities here? That's what you're high-fiving yourself about when you joyously proclaim "BDS fails."
Maybe you honestly didn't know that. Really, I guess it's possible that it slipped your mind or something. Maybe you thought it was less of an occupation and mor of a timeshare vacation or something. But no, this is a fraction of the occupation. if that bothers you... well.. .you could start opposing the occupation. stand up for the human dignity of Palestinians. Something like that?

(25,699 posts)These are human being. They are enduring abuse and suffering at the hands of israel, for no crime other than being the wrong kind of human beings, according to Israel, and living in a place that israel wants to take from them for itself. You can support their abuse, or you can oppose their abuse; neutrality is support, when it comes to abuse, as I'm sure you know.

(69 posts)shepards decided to allot themselves a ten miles in Neveda and even had the audacity to build electric poles, it would not take Nevada so many years to make them stop.
It isn't ethnic cleansing to give an Arab a parking ticket. It is the rule of law.
