The Mockingjay Of Palestine: 'If We Burn, You Burn With Us' | Ramzy Baroud

Ramzy Baroud -- World News Trust

Dec. 3, 2014

Raed Mu’anis was my best friend. The small scar on top of his left eyebrow was my doing at the age of five. I urged him to quit hanging on a rope where my mother was drying our laundry. He wouldn’t listen, so I threw a rock at him.

I didn’t mean for the rock hit him, but it did. My father dragged to me to his house kicking and screaming, while carrying a colourful rubber ball and a doll for gifts. I was mostly embarrassed that I hurt my best friend.

Several years later, Raed, now 15, was shot by Israeli soldiers as he helped our neighbours dig a grave for a kindly man who was killed by Israeli troops earlier in the day, while performing Eid prayers.

On that day, my father had taken us to extend holiday greetings to relatives in a nearby refugee camp in Gaza when the “Eid Massacre” took place in my home camp of Nuseirat. Every holiday there seemed to be a massacre. Nuseirat, the rebellious camp of resilient refugees was chosen on that particular Muslim holiday to be taught a lesson. Raed was one of that day’s many victims.

2. sure-10 Palestinians killed as Israel bombs Gaza playground (on Eid al-Fitr)

Dec 2014

Israeli forces on Monday bombed a park near the beach in Gaza City killing at least 10 Palestinians including eight children on the first day of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, medics said.

The strike on the park in al-Shati refugee camp -- which reports suggested was a drone strike -- hit the playground, killing 10 people, mostly children as they played with their families while wearing holiday clothes they had been given to celebrate the end of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.

Eyewitnesses said that 40 were also injured in the strike, which some were calling an "Eid massacre."

4. Palestinian eyewitnesses say differently

Barbati is a writer for algeminer who simply remouths the latest Hasbara and a fovorite boy at elder of ziyon

Ten people were killed in the attack, including eight children, and forty were injured, thirty-two of them children, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. Israel claimed a misfired militant rocket caused the carnage, but several eyewitnesses blamed the explosion on an airstrike.

More than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed in the nearly three-week-long conflict, the vast majority of them civilians, including over 200 children. Over 6,400 have been injured.

At the site of the Shati Camp attack, children’s sandals lie on the street next to pools of blood. Water gushes out of a broken pipe, turning red as it flows down the street. Leaves, blown off the trees by the force of the blast, blanket the ground. Shrapnel holes are everywhere, tearing holes in walls and cars. Young men gather in clusters. The sound of an outgoing rocket hisses out, its trail visible high in the sky. Chants of “Allah Akbar” echo in the street.

“We were playing on the swings and the missile hit and everyone started running,” says 6-year-old Anas Abu Shaafa. Two of his brothers were wounded in the attack, and two cousins were killed.

One of the two adults who died was Sobhi al-Helw, a 63-year-old grandfather. He had moved his family to Shati Camp from Shejaiya after their house was bombed on July 20 during Israel’s brutal assault on the neighborhood east of Gaza City. His 78-year-old mother, Hijazeya, was killed then and the family displaced.

5. Hamas intimidates people into telling the Hamas story, including journalists...
Tue Dec 16, 2014, 05:45 PM
Dec 2014

There were many reports of Journalists being intimidated by Hamas during the summer war. Lots of different reporters tweeting about it.

I know you'd rather deny all that as Hamas couldn't possibly intimidate journalists - ever.

Also, Barbati does not write for Algemeiner and has nothing to do with Elder of Ziyon.

But I realize Israel has to be wrong 100% of the time in your opinion. I'm sure you don't believe any Hamas rockets fell short, hitting Palestinian civilians. All civilian deaths must be blamed on Israel no matter what.

Am I wrong?

...with either the Algemeiner or Elder of Ziyon.

Both sources reported on Barbati's tweet. How does that make Barbati Hasbarado property of the Israel Lobby?
