JNS.org Leaders from the Palestinian terror groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad slammed Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas for purportedly suggesting that Arab states intervene in Gaza with military force resembling their action in Yemen.
Abbas made the suggestion during his remarks at the Arab League summit in Egypt, where he praised the Saudi-led intervention in Yemen as acceptable and advisable and said that there are other cases, there are other countries suffering from division and discord.
We suffer from division. We were the first to suffer from division, Abbas said, in reference to the split between the PA-controlled West Bank and Hamas-controlled Gaza.

Abbas wants Arab states to bomb Gaza because he doesn't like Hamas.
He sure showed his true colors, I imagine his handlers will try to walk this back somehow.

(3,385 posts)It's not a court. It has no power. Other than to play propaganda games, why do you think anyone should take any issue to the ICC?

(3,385 posts)Israel is a sovereign. It has the right to set up courts, including military tribunals. If you want to argue that those tribunals don't afford proper due process, that's a different argument. They are at least courts of law under Israeli military legal standards. The ICC isn't a court of law. There is no international legal system for it to be a court of. Since it isn't part of a sovereign it has no authority.

(45,850 posts)"The Arab nation has to attack any illegal side in the Arab region with an iron hand," he said during his Friday sermon in Ramallah. "It has to start from Palestine." He insisted that the protection of legitimacy in any Arab country is the duty of all the Arab leaders. "They have to initiate attacks against outlawed people anyhow and regardless of time and place, starting from Palestine."
He insisted that what happened in Gaza when Hamas took full security control of the territory in 2007, was "a coup" and must be dealt with decisively. "People who carry out coups, must be attacked with an iron hand," he said.
In response, senior Hamas official Mahmoud Al-Zahar wrote on his Facebook page that everyone who had hoped for the Israelis to defeat Hamas is now calling for the Arabs to do it. "This, he scoffed, "is the worst kind of tyranny.

of course, he knows damn well they will do no such thing, because israel would flip its shit and go nuts on everyone. Thus, reinforcing his schmuckery.
Now, my question - do you share his viewpoints?

(16,330 posts)Hamas is a terrorist group and as such is incapable of providing the kind of leadership the Gazans deserve. But I don't think eliminating them with an "iron hand" which would obviously involve massive civilian casualties is the way to go.
I would prefer elections.

(25,699 posts)Israel doesn't give a shit about human cost in Gaza - its politicians don't, its people mostly don't, its supporters absolutely don't. But it's not going to let Arab military forces get near its borders. Shit, Israel wouldn't even give Morsi permission to maneuver against Al Qaeda in the Sinai...when AQ was firing at Israel. No way they're going to let someone else do flyover bombings.
