Israeli soldier: Palestinians are our training targets

4/7/2015

The Israeli army uses Palestinians as targets for their training, Haaretz reported a former soldier as saying.

In an article entitled "From an Israeli combat soldier to conscientious objector", Haaretz said that "after two years in the Israel Defence Forces, Yaron Kaplan, 21, of Lod, is declaring himself a conscientious objector and is refusing to continue his service because of Israel's occupation of the West Bank."

"From the moment I began my training I understood how violent this place is," he said. "It was a totally traumatic experience. Every time we would do shooting practice, we would be 'executing' someone – 'Now we shoot Mohammed; now we shoot at Ahmed'," he said.

Kaplan said that he joined the army immediately after he graduated from the military college, but has now quit. He explained this is because of the "violent nature of the army".

The violent nature of the army?

Which are the countries that have non-violent armies?

Also, the headline is just a made up lie which is typical for this ridiculous website.

Just to summarize, they take an already published article in Ha'aretz, slap a BS headline, and then just copy five paragraphs from the other piece.

3. They must scour the Israeli media for stories they can recast in the most negative light possible

At least Ma'an does some original reporting.

Of the three sites you mention, they are actually the most even-handed of the bunch.

Mondoweiss and this Middle East Monitor thing are just pure one-hundred percent hate-filled propaganda.

On Ma'an you may actually see articles with coverage that is unfavorable towards Hamas.

On Mondoweiss, the only Palestinian leaders they criticize are Fatah because they dare to want to negotiate with Israel.

Posing as IDF reservist, Oren Hazan gives false testimony to Breaking The Silence group on rights abuses by IDF in Gaza

By Adiv Sterman April 1, 2015, 1:03 pm

Freshman Likud party MK Oren Hazan was accused Wednesday of attempting to embarrass an Israeli left-wing NGO by providing it with false testimony detailing fictitious human rights abuses committed by IDF soldiers in the Gaza Strip.

Hazan apparently acted in hope that the fake attestation would be published and thus cast serious doubt on the organization’s credibility.

According to Breaking The Silence, an organization dedicated to collecting testimonies from current and former IDF soldiers about their military service in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, a routine fact-checking procedure revealed numerous inconsistencies in an account submitted several months ago by a man calling himself Asaf Hazan, who claimed to be a reservist who fought during last summer’s 50-day war between Israel and Hamas.

I wish this were nothing new...he deserves a great deal of credit and support.
