"The Unspoken Truth on 9/11" Documentary... Please see comments below.

by Massimo Mazzucco.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-unspoken-truth-on-911-september-11-the-new-pearl-harbor/5354760

Just thought I'd post this link, for those who walk in awareness.

This is a 7 hour video. But wait....don't stop reading!

I didn't watch all of it, and one can pick and choose the chapters to watch. There's not much that those who follow 9/11 don't already know, although the documentary is, overall, very well done.

The important thing is this: If you go to Part II, the middle visual, and put your counter at about 45 minutes in, You can watch a segment titled "The Towers Little Dirty Secret". It's a detailed explanation of the asbestos issue.

I've known for years that asbestos was in the mix somewhere, but this lays it all out.

The towers were built when asbestos was widely used in construction, for fireproofing, insulating etc. In recent years more stringent asbestos regs were enacted and the cost of abatement skyrocketed.

By the year 2000 an abatement project for the Towers would have cost 1 billion $$ - the same as the cost of a brand new tower. In May of 2001 the Port Authority lost their 10 year battle with the insurance companies over the asbestos issue.

The towers couldn't be maintained without incurring the cost of total abatement. But they couldn't be outright demolished, either. What to do?...hmmm

Enter Larry Silverstein. He seemed in a hurry to close the deal on a 99 year lease on the towers. The deal was signed on 7/24/2001 and Mr. S. took out an insurance policy for 3.2 billion $$ on his property.

The rest is history, except that, quoting the narrator, "On the evening of 9/11, Silverstein was in control of 12 million square ft. of new office space to be built on some of the most valuable real estate in the world."

Meanwhile, again according to the narrator, "First responders continue to be decimated by mesothelioma and other pulmonary diseases."

There's more. It's well worth viewing.

1. So, the 9/11 attacks happened so that the owner wouldn't have to pay for asbestos removal?

Seems a bit excessive to me... especially since the site is now a memorial, not a new office building.

or nearly so, on that site. Se here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_World_Trade_Center

I tried to pare down my summary so it wasn't too long to read. One really does have to view that segment to get the full impact. It wasn't as cut and dried as you think. There was also an estimated cost of about 800 billion $$ for rebuilding obsolete electric, electronic and cooling systems.

The towers were obsolete, thus the ongoing difficulty in maintaining full occupancy.

$800 billion to refurbish the electric and air conditioning? Just shy of a trillion?? That seems a bit excessive too.

for an opinion in the matter.

But that's not the point, is it? As I said, previously, it's all laid out IN DETAIL in the video. That's why I posted the link. So one could go to the segment (it's not that long) and form an opinion based on the entire issue.

You can lead a horse to water, etc...

The Towers were at 95% capacity when they were destroyed. That's full occupancy to deal with people moving in and out.

The asbestos issue was only forty floors of one of the towers, as I recall. The abestos was long in the process of being taken out as tenants moved in and requested it.

Silverstein was forced by the Port Authority to take that much insurance on the towers. He tried to get a policy far lower than what he wound up with. Some motive.

6. "The asbestos issue was only forty floors of one of the towers, as I recall." You recall incorrectly

"...400 tons <of asbestos> used to fireproof and insulate piping, ceiling panels, vinyl floor tiles, elevator shafts..."

""7 million square feet of vinyl asbestos floor tiles..."

When asbestos regulations were tightened they required that the area in question be vacated, hermetically sealed, negatively pressurized, and the work done by specialized workers who had to be decontaminated upon exit from the job. Quite costly, I expect.

Please argue from the source document (or video in this case).

And please provide a link for Silverstein and the insurance issue. Thanks.

7. Oh, it wasn't 40 floors of one tower. I did get that wrong!

It was only 38 floors of one tower.

Silverstein first tried to buy $1.5 billion in coverage.

Link to a collection of stories with substantial quotes about asbestos and how Silverstein came to acquire the lease:

The towers were not a white elephant because of asbestos. Silverstein only got the lease after the first bid fell apart.
