Sorry, I have to give a nod to local news

We had a beautiful day to Celebrate!

Gay community talks politics at Pride Fest

Thousands celebrated their gay pride in Southwest Florida Saturday at the Alliance for the Arts, with much to say about the future election.

The gay community is looking ahead to the presidential election and the debate over gay marriage.

Supporting gay pride is even more important this year with the presidential election less than one month away. The Gay Social Network of Southwest Florida says it's seeing an increase of people getting involved on the issues.

Arlene Berger's marriage is recognized in Connecticut but not here in Florida.

It gives us a picture into what's happening around the country.

As for this comment in the article:
""Even though Obama is for gay rights, I just think we need a change from high unemployment. People are out of work, the deficit's been tripled," Said Greg Hrize of Naples."

I think that's because under the Bush administration the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, plus the Medicare prescription plan were not paid for nor included in the deficit. Obama put them in, dramatically increasing the defiict, although they'd always been there under Bush.

S.W. Florida has it's share Gay republicans (yes they are not a myth!) I know the person who made that comment (not socially but politically), let's just say we won't have to worry about him posting on DU.
