PolitiFact N.J.: Gay marriage supported by majorities of Americans and New Jerseyans, assemblyman sa

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2012/01/politifact_nj_gay_marriage_sup.html

As Democratic legislators seek to legalize same-sex marriage -- and win over Republican Gov. Chris Christie in the process -- they're claiming to have public opinion on their side.

State Assemblyman Reed Gusciora (D-Mercer) made that argument in a recent news release, claiming that "Opinion polls show that the majority of Americans, and the majority of New Jerseyans, favor marriage equality for same sex couples."

After researching two state polls and six national polls, PolitiFact New Jersey found that Gusciora's statement is mostly on target. Public support for same-sex marriage in New Jersey and across the nation has been on the rise.

he's not going to risk his position and status in the Republican Party over gay marriage rights. Besides, he's really quite the bully on the playground if you actually hear him speak and ridicule any member of the public who questions his judgement in cutting funds to education while he sends his own children to private schools.

I hope the legislature can pass this in a veto-proof way, but I doubt it. One might wish to hold off until NJ kicks Christie out in the next election cycle and gets a liberal Dem, (if there are any available to run in that state).

the bill is not veto proof. Eventually we are going to win.

Conservatives consistently amaze me with their stupidity. They're always on the wrong side of history, particularly when it comes to recognizing the natural human rights of others. They make the same mistakes over and over, and never learn a thing.

"I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative. I believe that is so obviously and universally admitted a principle that I hardly think any gentleman will deny it."
