The leader and founder of one of America's most influential Tea Party groups believes he's found the final solution the America's gay problem: A class action lawsuit against homosexuality.
At a Tea Party Unity event yesterday, founder Rick Scarborough, a former Baptist pastor who declared AIDS to be "God's judgement," spoke with anti-gay activist Peter LaBarbera about the possibility of filing a Big Tabacco-style lawsuit against homosexuality.
He continued:
Obviously, statistically now even the Centers for Disease Control verifies that homosexuality much more likely leads to AIDS than smoking leads to cancer. And yet the entire nation has rejected smoking, billions of dollars are put into a trust fund to help cancer victims and the tobacco industry was held accountable for that. Any thoughts on that kind of an approach?
"Yeah I think thats great. I would love to see it," LaBarbera replied. "We always wanted to see one of the kid in high school who was counseled by the official school counselor to just be gay, then he comes down with HIV. But we never really got the client for that."

(234 posts)I'm only partly kidding. Have we got any chance after the BS they've pulled already? Those mofos ought to rot in prison for their malfeasance, putting aside their intolerance, hatred and overall repugnance.

(3,596 posts)You cannot file suit against an indeterminable defendant. There is no such defendant in this case - i.e. "homosexuality". The term describes a human condition in which a person is attracted primarily or exclusively toward a person of the same gender.
Who would they serve with the lawsuit? Who is "homosexuality"?
This is bogus. In the case of tobacco, you could identify the various cigarette manufacturing and marketing companies.
Further, the CDC has NEVER said that "homosexuality" is more likely to lead to AIDS than smoking to cancer. Furthermore the CDC has never said that homosexual behavior is more likely to lead to AIDS than smoking to cancer. Certain sexual practices between two men or a man and a woman where one partner is infected with the HIV virus may lead to an infection. But given the current state of HIV treatment, the likelihood anyone will advance to AIDS is significantly reduced.

(6,785 posts)Setting the precedent of filing class action lawsuits against a human trait could lead to a future lawsuit against stupidity, which would leave the Teabaggers as a whole totally fucked.
