Boston College Students March in Pride Parade with Same-Sex Marriage Advocates

Boston College’s Graduate Pride Alliance—which supports “LGBTQ students,” but also organizes “advocacy events”—recently invited students, alumni, faculty, and staff of the Jesuit institution, according to a Facebook post, to take part in the 2014 Boston Pride Parade, which also included same-sex marriage advocacy groups.

According to a press release from Boston Pride, Grand Marshals for the parade were Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, whom the organizers call “a staunch supporter of Marriage Equality,” and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, which is described by LifeSiteNews as “a group of homosexual men who dress in drag to protest Catholic sexual teaching.”

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states, “Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that ‘homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.’ They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.”

In addition to promoting the Pride Parade this year, the Boston College Graduate Pride Alliance boasts on its website that it “sponsored Boston College’s inaugural Lavender Graduation in 2013 and the University’s first march Boston Pride Parade in partnership with the Rainbow Alliance.” The minutes from the Boston College student senate last year also mentioned the intended participation of the Rainbow Alliance in the 2013 Pride Parade....
