(231 posts)I like Pope Francis, but his effort to "soften the tone" of Catholic theological bigotry is beginning to smell of hypocrisy. If you promote secular policy that opposes basic human rights for gay people, it really makes no difference if you are a kindly, smiling old pope or a foaming at the mouth wingnut Republican. In fact, I'd almost prefer to deal with the mouth-foaming types.
